Marvin J. Levine
Marvin J. Levine is a highly-regarded real estate attorney with over 30 years’ experience counseling private real estate developers and public REITS. While in private practice, he has led development projects from the initial public approval process through construction, leasing and permanent financing. Moreover, he led the IPO of what is now Arcadia Realty Trust (NYSE: AKR). Marvin returned to Wachtel Missry after leaving in 2011 to become Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of General Growth Properties, Inc. (NYSE: GGP), an S&P 500 company headquartered in Chicago.
During his tenure there from 2011 to 2017, he led a legal team that handled $4.3 billion in acquisitions, $5.1 billion in dispositions, over $14 billion of financings and numerous structured multi-party ventures. His teams was called on to renegotiate mortgage financings and extensions, while ensuring that all potential tax-related advantages were integrated. As Chief Legal Officer, he instituted GGP’s rigorous compliance programs while focusing on improved processes and reducing costs. Most crucially, he helped to successful reposition the core asset portfolio in furtherance of management’s vision for the future of the Company.
